CHAKRAS 101

THE ROOT

Mulhadara

The energy of Muladhara comes from Earth and governs our basic needs, material world and physical structure–think skin and bones. Our thoughts, feeling, experiences around food, home, body image, money, and environment influence our root chakra energy. When these basic needs are being met, ideally, our root charka is in balance. The energy flows freely through this internal roundabout of Mulhadara and can continue on its journey up the spine. If one of these aspects of your life is not being fulfilled (or you have unresolved past issues) there could be a traffic jam. The energy gets blocked completely or does not flow as easily to the upper body. Basically, there is a crash on the highway and you are delayed or even prevented in getting home. If you ARE able to get home you arrive cranky, tired, stressed – not your most joyful self.

Mulhadara is linked to our sense of of smell. This is why we love using certain essential oils when working with root chakra energy. Our Life blend was specifically created to bring harmony and balance to the root chakra.

Looking for other ways to help balance and find flow in your root chakra? Check out our grounding Earth connection tips in our May RAW Review and this Gaia Connection Yoga Nidra. Anytime we can connect to our planet and feel more grounded, centered, safe, our root chakra begins to harmonize with the other energy centers more effectively.

Journaling is another beneficial exercise for all charkas. Explore your thoughts, feeling, emotions surrounding your material world. Do you feel safe and provided for? What is your relationship with your body, food and money? Sometimes we need to go beneath the surface and dig into our inner self to discover what is blocking us from shining our unique radiant light that is our true nature.
